An intriguing insight into a question of law and forensics. A brief investigation into the trial and execution of Mary Ann Cotton. Tried and convicted for the wilful murder of her step-son Charles Edward Cotton, with further allegations that she poisoned up to 15 members of her family. Is it conceivable that a woman can bear children, nourish children, feed and care for a husband, and then administer arsenic to such an extent as to cause an agonising slow painful death? Surely in today’s modern educated society this thought would be unbelievable, a thought so barbaric so inhumane that it beggars belief! However a trail of evidence and forensics would suggest that Victorian procedures and due-diligences in Law were often overlooked in favour of sensationalism and outdated traditions. The brief Chapters within this document will lay before you the reader, several points of concern culminating in your judgement as to the probability  of her guilt or innocence concerning the sole death of her step-son Charles Edward Cotton.
